ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

GROUP ‘X’ (TECHNICAL) :
Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR
Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream, as shown below, from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.

Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades :
Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade :
Passed 10+2/ Intermediate / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Groups ‘X&Y’ (Eligible for both Technical and Non-Technical) :
Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. Candidates will take the examination for Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ subjects in one sitting and can qualify for Group ‘X’ or Group ‘Y’ or both i.e. if candidate passes in English, Physics, and Mathematics, he is considered to pass in Group ‘X’ and if he passes in English and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) then he will be considered pass in Group ‘Y’. If a candidate clears in all the four subjects, he will be considered pass in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’. Diploma holders are eligible to appear only for Group ‘X’.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Verification of Eligibility :
Printout of online Provisional Admit Card, Original Certificates, Marks Sheets and other required applicable original/duly filled documents like NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate, Son of serving Air Force personnel certificate (SOAFP)/PPO, Discharge Book, Service Certificate issued from AFRO/DAV forwards of retired/ deceased/discharged Air Force personnel, Discharge Certificate (if discharged from Army /Navy / Government organization), Consent Form signed by parents if candidate below 18 years of age and passport size color photographs will be required and scrutinized/verified at the examination venue prior to commencement of Written Test to ascertain the eligibility in prima-facie. Detailed verification will be carried out later in respect of candidates who pass the Written Test. Candidature of those who do not meet the laid down educational criteria are liable to be rejected during Initial verification of original certificates & mark sheets prior to the conduct of the written test and also during detailed verification on clearing the written test.

Written Test :
Eligible candidates will be sent Online Provisional Admit Cards on their respective e-mail IDs during the month of Feb-march (which they will download & take color printout & will carry the same to the examination center on the day of test as indicated on their respective Admit Cards) to appear in the Selection Test at the examination centers. Written Test will be objective type and question paper will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper. Written test for candidates opting for both Group X&Y shall be conducted in one sitting, using the same OMR sheet. A detailed procedure shall be explained before the conduct of the examination.

Written Test and Duration of the Test will be as follows :
Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades. The duration of the written test will be 60 minutes and will comprise of English, Physics, and Mathematics as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus.

Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. The duration of the written test will be 45 minutes and will comprise of English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning And General Awareness (RAGA).

Both Groups ‘X&Y’ Trades. The duration of the written test will be 85 minutes and will comprise of English, Physics, and Mathematics as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning And General Awareness (RAGA).

ADAPTABILITY TEST 1 :

Adaptability Test-1 [For both Group ‘ X’ (Technical) Trades & Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades].
All candidates who pass the Written Tests will have to undertake Adaptability Test-1 which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT) :
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) [For both Group ‘ X’ (Technical) Trades & Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades] .
All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-1 are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 7 minutes. Candidates will also have to complete 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.

Note: Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.

Adaptability Test 2 :

Adaptability Test-2 [For both Group ‘ X’ (Technical) Trades & Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades].
All candidates who pass PFT will have to undertake Adaptability Test-2 as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test-2 is to identify suitable candidates with requisite comprehension and communication ability.

Note: Candidates qualifying for Groups ‘X&Y’ will be given the group according to his merit as well as his preference given at the time of filling up of the online application. However, President, CASB reserves the right to allocate Group to a candidate as per vacancies available with CASB and the decision of the President, CASB in this respect shall be final and binding upon the candidate.

Medical Examination :

Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test-2 will be issued with a medical appointment letter at Airmen Selection Centre for their medical examination at designated Medical Board Centre (MBC) on the specified date. Medical The examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and policy in vogue on the subject issue. Candidates declared Medically Unfit can avail the option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) against their unfitness by depositing Rs. 40/- in a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through Military Receivable Order (MRO). The application for AMB along with an original copy of MRO, photocopy of Unfitness Certificate and Postal Stamp worth Rs. 25/- affixed on a self-addressed envelope are to be submitted to the respective Medical Board Centres for processing, within three working days from the date of issue of Medical Unfitness Certificate at MBC.

Physical standard required for NDA: Candidates appearing in NDA must be physically and mentally fit according to the prescribed physical standards.  A candidate recommended by the Services Selection Board (SSB) will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Only those candidates will be declared qualified NDA  and admitted to the academy who is declared fit by the medical board. The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of military duties. The minimum acceptable height is 157 cm for Army, Navy and Naval Academy while 162.5 cm for Air Force. For Gurkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern, the minimum acceptable heights will be 5 cm less. Paper-I Mathematics (Maximum Marks – 300) :

Algebra: Concept of set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws. Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line. Complex numbers – basic properties, modulus, argument, and cube roots of unity. Binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions. Quadratic equations with real coefficients. The solution of linear inequations of two variables by graphs. Permutation and Combination. Binomial theorem and its application. Logarithms and their applications.

Matrices and Determinants: Types of matrices, operations on matrices Determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinant. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix, Applications – Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramer’s rule and by Matrix Method.

Trigonometry: Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometrically ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae. Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications – Height and distance, properties of triangles.

Analytical Geometry of two and three dimensions: Rectangular Cartesian Coordinate system. Distance formula. Equation of a line in various forms. The angle between the two lines. The distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. The point in a three-dimensional space, distance between two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation of a plane and a line in various forms. The angle between the two lines and the angle between the two planes. Equation of a sphere.

Differential Calculus: Concept of a real-valued function – domain, range, and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits – examples. Continuity of functions – examples, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of a function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative – applications. Derivatives of sum, product, and quotient of functions, a derivative of a function with respect of another function, derivative of a composite function. Second-order derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minima.

Integral Calculus and Differential equations: Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals – determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves – applications. Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of a differential equation, solution of the first order and first-degree differential equations of various types – examples. Application in problems of growth and decay.

Vector Algebra: Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, the addition of vectors, scalar multiplication of vector, scalar product or dot product of two vectors. Vector product and cross product of two vectors. Applications-work did by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems.

Statistics and Probability:
Statistics: Classification of data, Frequency distribution, cumulative frequency distribution – examples Graphical representation – Histogram, Pie Chart, Frequency Polygon – examples.
